Applying for a place - general information

You must apply for a place at a school, even if it’s linked to your child’s current nursery or primary school. For children entering Reception at primary school or Year 7 at secondary school in September, this is done directly through Gloucestershire County Council.

For a place at Cam Hopton in years 1 to 6, or during the school year (In-Year Application), this is done directly through the school administrator.

When applications open

Applications open on different days in each local council area - usually at the start of the autumn term of the year before your child is due to start school.

Deadlines to apply

You must apply for a primary school place by 15 January.

You must apply for a secondary school place by 31 October.

How to apply

For Reception or Year 7 September intake, you will need to fill in a form (online or on paper) which can be found on the Gloucestershire County Council website. See Applying for primary school places link below.

You’ll be asked to list the schools you’re applying for in order of preference. You must apply for at least 3 schools.

For In-Year Applications please use the attached form and return it directly to Cam Hopton.

Supplementary Information Form

Cam Hopton is designated as a school with a religious character and as such is permitted to give priority to applicants who are of the Church of England faith attending church regularly. If you wish your application to be considered using the Christian comittment oversubscription criteria of the school, please complete the 'SIF' form below and return it directly to the school.

When you’ll find out

Councils will send confirmations for:

primary schools on 16 April
secondary schools on 3 March
